UKC hunt test Question

Can anyone tell me if you are allowed to use a double barrel shotgun at the line when shooting poppers? I?ve been told that only pump actions are allowed.
Thanks,
Charlie

Only authorized guns will be allowed in the test area. They have to be authorized and inspected by a hunt official. Took that out of the rule book.
If you have a rule book it goes into more detail.

Recall that at the Started Level you may hold on to the dogs collar to prevent a break. The Judges will then assign a gunner to 'shoot' at the marks. I would suggest you take advantage of this if you are running in Started.
There is also a significant advantage to using a pump. The noise of working the action acts as 'clue' for the working dog. As you work the action the dog will come to understand there is another mark coming. In turn he/she should come to swing with the gun to the next mark. By training with a pump gun you can impart a number of nonverbal clues that will help you and your dog. Watch the more experienced handlers and you will see how many nonverbal clues as transmitted to the dog will doing simple marks, walkups and blinds. I assume you are not running in finished which requires a triple - 3 poppers. Good Luck

I should also mention that if you wish to use your gun you must advise the Marshal of your intent. The marshal will then take you gun to the judges. The approved gun will then be held with the judges until it is your tune to run. The marshal will then return to gun to you after you run. We typically have the marshal take the gun to meet you at your vehicle.
