All~

I've been scurrying around in preparation for next Saturday's (March 7) Long Island Decoy Collectors Annual Show in Hauppauge. In addition to delivering batches of gunning birds to numerous customers, I am responsible for both the Contemporary Decoy Exhibition and a tribute to Al "Mr. Decoy" McCormick.

I just built this display panel and have printed up the narrative and images for the McCormick tribute (It folds up to fit inside my Forester).

We will have lots of McCormick decoys - in various stages of completion - and an assortment of his patterns, tools and other gear. We will have one decoy that has this tag attached - a note from Al himself....

Here is Side B. BTW - for you Long Islanders of a certain age - the ED in Al's phone number was for "Edgewood".

Although I will not compete, I hope to bring both a Black Duck and this Brant - both hollow Cedar - for "show & tell" purposes.

Hope to see you there,

Steve,
I was wondering why the show is always the same day as the Ward-Melville fishing show>
Seems you are loosing people to each other ?

Steve, Looking forward to going to see what your bringing and am also wanting to see David Clark's new EstuaryII. I now spend a lot of time at the new house in NH and do not get to Massachusetts much to the glass shop where they are built. Here is the picture he sent me, the one in the background is a lower boat and the one with the flapper boards is the wooden boat the molds were made from. See you next Saturday. Phil

Steve,
I am rounding up the materials you listed for me to bring. If I see anything that might add to the event I will PM you.

Good morning, George~

I believe LIDCA's "cabinet" is aware of the conflict - but I've never been at the meetings for the discussions. It's always tough to find an "unclaimed" Saturday. Our show almost always conflicts with NJ Waterfowlers annual dinner - so we miss lots of carvers and others that way.

Best thing is - the weather looks fine for this weekend. It's a dicey time of year.

All the best,

SJS

This has been discussed at meetings. Unfortunately, there is almost no date without a conflict somewhere.

Joe

Good morning, All!

Tending to all the last minute details....

I printed out this photo - of our Al McCormick Tribute display panel - as a "proof". I hope I do not need this as a reference - but the panel will travel 230 miles later this morning and I hope nothing falls off.

We have lots of great decoys, gear and memorabilia for this exhibit and I am looking forward to putting it all together this afternoon.

All the best,

SJS

George~

Yup - was happy to see your return address on the box this afternoon. I'll open it up tomorrow morning - just like Christmas!

Thanks again for participating,

SJS
