Time on my hands

Thanks to the generosity of friends like Steve Sanford and Jamie Woods, an old fly tyer like myself rarely runs out of duck feathers. Staying home these days means I have the time to organize feathers and tie flies. A guy can go through thousands of feathers to find the right candidates for certain flies.
A daunting sight at the start of a session:

Different feathers go in different places on different flies...teal can be pretty finicky:

need just the right, symetrical flank feather:

same goes for wood duck flank for the cheek on a classic trolling streamer:

And of course, good old mallard for wings:

Hoping that all your feathers are being put to good use!

I fish for Atlantic salmon in New Brunswick, CA. I'm supposed to be building our new camp on the river there right now. Pretty non-essential to anyone but me, but I totally understand and buy into social distance/border closure.

Gary, how did you make the stemer, It looks very home made, is that what you use to help the feathers come back to life. PAUL

Good morning, Young Man~

Beautiful photos!

I'm glad you got your new hip back when it was safe to go into hospitals. Hope it's getting you around comfortably.

All the best,

SJS
