Hope you all are doing well!!!!!!!!!!!!

During this lock down I have been going nuts finding stuff to do. So this past week I clean out all of my hunting bags. I use a different bag for what ever I'm hunting that day. I have a bag for my boat where a carry a little of everything. I have one for duck, geese, snow geese, deer, turkey, That about all I hunt now days. So the first bag up was my snow goose bag. Remember! my trip got called off this year because of the virus.
So that means I haven't even open this bag in over a year. So I pull it out of the closet and open it. First thing I see is a turkey and ham sub that I forgot. YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!The bag was full of food and drinks. And a bunch of white feathers. New boxes of 10 ga shells, calls gloves hats heaters etc. I remember now it was so dam cold. Out in the pit blind that day. We just got out of there so fast after the hunt. That I didn't clean out the food and drink. Then it was off to my early goose bag. Yes there was drinks in there sun block that was all over the bag. Sun glasses and a ton of 10 ga shells all covered in sun block. Then it was off to my duck bag. This is the one I use the most. I open this puppy up and there was just about everything ever invited for duck hunting in it. I mean a ton of stuff. I am sure you all have one like this. It was like walking into a Bass Pro shop. No wonder why I don't have as much money as I once did. Oh my goodness! This could be one of the reason WHY I was married twice and divorced twice. I have a bunch of stuff. Every bag had boxes of shells. And I'm sure I'm not the first person to buy something twice. Every bag I open had the same knifes and gun cleaning kit in them. Oh boy!!!!!!!!!!!!! After cleaning every bag out. I found out I have a ton of shells , knife tools, calls face paint, and just about everything a duck hunter would ever want. Stuff I never even opened. It was like my birthday with some of the bags. It was fun going into every bag. Made me feel like I was getting ready for duck season. Be smart stay home if you can. Your all like family to me. Make good choices. NONE OF US ARE STRONGER THEN THIS THING!!!! God Bless

Thanks for the story. This made me laugh. I do enjoy cleaning out my blind bags at the beginning of a season and recalling the memories and wondering why things are or aren't in there. Haha

Usually all I find are last years candy bars. Sometimes the're not too bad, other times they are either like cardboard or like a rock.

I cleaned a reorganized my gunning bag for crow hunting last weekend, and found two hand made crow calls the were "missing". I also threw it in the tub to wash it, and WOW !!! filthy does even begin to describe it. It looked I brought the swamp in and dumped it in the tub.

Past few years I,ve been using a small backpack to carry thermos , snacks , and other essentials to deer stand. I,m a pipe smoker so I,ll carry some werthers, cinnamon candies, and granola bars in pack to curb urge to smoke. Theres usually several of each left in pack in shop from one season till next. Funny how the flavor changes just a might when you chomp down on a year old (or more) granola bar while deer hunting. Fortunately coffee kills the after taste.[sly]

Oh I have found some interesting things in my bags before. Bananas don't age well. Oranges and tangerines mummify and become very hard. Slim Jims seem to get greasier as they age. Granola bars will get very stale but shows me that there are lots of preservatives in those even. I haven't "lost" calls, mostly because I have a turkey pack, a duck hunting bucket and an upland vest. So I usually know where everything is...even if it means having to dig through the detritus that builds up in the bags/bucket during season.

Haven't found dead birds that were forgotten about but have a friend who forgot about a quail in his pack and left the pack in his truck for too long. He just figured the stink was from the dogs rolling in something. He isn't very big on cleaning things out of his truck. Eventually the smell became too much for even him and he cleaned stuff out and he was like OH! I forgot about that!

First I hope your all well out there in Gods Country. Cleaning your hunting bags can be really fun sometimes. Finding stuff you thought you lost. But you couldn't find it during hunting season so you got a new one. I have done that a few times trust me. Glad you enjoyed the post. I try to come up with some good but different subjects. Thank you for adding to it. God Bless

If you got some good coffee to go with that year old candy bar. It will taste great when you dunk it. Finding stuff in your bags can be good and bad. I found some pretty nasty stuff over the years. Thanks my friend be safe and take care of your family. God Bless!

Hunting bags can get really nasty. But to be truthful I rather be out there getting nasty myself then being stuck in the house. Hope your all safe and sound. God Bless.

First of all! food always taste better in the duck boat or tree stand. Coffee can kill the taste of almost anything. When your hungry it doesn't matter. And if your cold it really doesn't matter. I have made some nasty stuff out in the duck blind. And to tell you the truth. My hunting buddies ate every bite of it. Thank for adding to the post. Be safe and God Bless!

Hey a Slim Jim almost cost me my life. Dropped one in my boat one time. I Slipped almost went over board. grease and water don't mix. Happen more then once. Cooked in my boat more then once where grease from bacon or what ever got on the floor. But back to the bags I have bags for everything. Over the years I found some nasty stuff in them. Bird parts, uncooked sausage , hot dogs ground beef. Yes I did lots of cooking in my boat over the years. Your friends dog smell way better then some of the stuff I took out of my bags. Early goose season can be the worse here in NYS. It can get hot here in September and if you forget a goose or a goose breast in your bag. Well you better hope you didn't eat that much. On the day when you open that bag. Down south where you are I would be in big trouble. Thank you for adding to the post. Be safe, God Bless.

Anthony,

I am fairly good about cleaning out my hunting packs. What gets me in trouble are mu lunch containers. I take em home and forget to take em out of the truck. They become what is known as my science experiments. Some of them so nasty that not even the dog would roll in them as you are gagging for clean air. I learned it is better for me to have glass lunch containers. They don?t hold a stink like all plastic.

And as you said....in my temps down here....well things can get quite ripe....VERY fast

You put a smile on my face. I have made some dumb moves in my life when it comes to hunting. Nothing is worse then getting in your boat a year later. Finding out you left some ducks or geese in them. In my boat I have all kinds of place to put stuff. My seats lift up and there is storage all over the place. I have found dead ducks and geese in them many of times. Most of them where left from people I took out hunting . But you know who ends up dealing with it. Glass is always better when it comes to keeping the smell down. So that is a smart move on your part. Thanks for the smile. Stay safe and God Bless
