What's on your WORK BENCH - June 2020

Dave~

Nice birds - congratulations!

On your next pair, I would be tempted to use one of your Wood Duck heads for the Drake. Give it a bit of a haircut - and maybe tuck it right down into the shoulders for that iconic GWT posture.

All the best,

SJS

Hey Rooster, did that last image give you cause for alarm? The particular pose was a homage to a Kent County Maryland Decoy MAker. If it ran off, let me know and I will resend.

Good morning, George~

I can find nothing recent from you in my e-mail. Last I had from you were the 3 Southerners - 2 Specs and a Bahamian Sprig.

Please re-send.

The covid luchador has assumed the pose of an old timey decoy maker from Rock Hall, Maryland.
Can any of you all assume who it might be?
I have been wearing the mask, along with an Enola Gay t shirt to my radiation therapy daily. Keeps the folks at oncology smiling. After each session, the gay's fuselage has a small liht blue mark added to it--when she reaches 23 dots, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

I have overcome my initial shock - but am now afraid that Covid Confinement may have taken a grave toll in the First State.....

Nice Pochards nevertheless!

Steve,

Not shocked at all, and for sure has nothing to do with the Covid Confinement.

Just George/DMM, being George/Obi Wan +...

At the old Westlake show, many years ago, there were times only the robe was worn, and most times it was closed.

There was a whole lotta craziness & outrageous fun. Once in awhile a warning by security, and the local constabulary.

Waterfowlers & Decoy folks are not well known as being "normal" (whatever that may be).

The POOL always seemed to be at the center of it all. Must have been something in the water. [;)]

Paisan, I ALWAYS wore stuff under my famed Jedi Robe, including a set of darth vader jammies. Best fun at westgate was using my jedi powers to open the front door for flight folk. It is still floating around on you tube-- My Son got me the mask and Tom Simpson figured we could somehow incorporate it with the robe. Just something to do to prevent crazies from taking over!![angelic]

Some years back I carved a Snowy Egret during the summer for a confidence decoy. The Long Island waterfowl season is late to avoid conflict with recreational boaters. When I went hunting I realized all the Egrets were long gone. But I the Blue Herons were still around in November. Thought I might want to try a Heron confidence decoy. Made a life sized pattern from some photos and carved it from white cedar. I made the body hollow similar to carousel horses to keep the weight down.View attachment IMG_3123 - Edited.jpg
