Youtube boat build videos?

Given how common Youtube instruction videos are for pretty much every task in life these days, I'm a bit surprised there aren't more boat builds being documented. For some of the steps involved, watching a video would be super helpful. I've come across Sam Devlin's old stitch and glue video, and a few others, but I'm wondering if folks have suggestions for videos they've enjoyed.

I thoguht Kris Washington did a nice job documenting his build of a Devlin snow goose. I've also started working my way through the building a total boat series, which I am thoroughly enjoying.

What others should be on the list of can't miss youtube boat build videos/series?

Although they aren?t duck boats, I enjoy Acorn to Arrabella, Sampson Boat rebuild of Tally Ho, and Tips from a Shipwright.

Good morning, Richard~

I thoroughly enjoy everything by Lou Sauzedde. He is a great natural teacher and I especially like that he explains his thought processes through the design and construction. I smile and grimace a bit, though, when I watch his casual approach to shop safety....

I also enjoyed The Art of Boat Building - traditional plank-on-frame construction of a sailboat (yet another of my passions):

As with much on YouTube, there is lots of interesting content but I mostly savor the new and different approaches to accomplish various jobs. The Art of Boat Building gave me the idea for the left-handed skilsaw for cutting long, sweeping curves - as on planks or floorboards. I have always used my regular 7-1/4" saw for these jobs, but just treated myself to a 4/1/4" saw - all of which seem to be left-handed. I will be using it for the first time tomorrow (for a non-boat project) but expect I will be able to see the cut-line more easily.

All the best,

SJS

Steve,

I second your recommendations. Tips from a Shipwright and Art of BoatBuilding are my great. I like the videos on building tools from Art of BoatBuilding.

Eye in Hand has some nice videos on melonseed building and sailing the Cheaspeake Bay area in small boats.

My wife's next door neighbor restored wooden boats as a hobby and side job. Boats would sit in the yard undone and then he get the bug and go non stop evenings and weekends. John was a true ship wright with a great eye. He rebuilt a 23' sailboat and sailed it from Long Island to Maine and back one summer.
Watching him work was fun and educational.
