Scull Boat Hunting in Texas

Good morning, Leonard~

I have no relevant experience, but - I am wondering if sculling is legal in the Lone Star State.

A friend hunted there last winter with a Texas law enforcement officer. It seems gunni ng is largely restricted to blinds (at least on big waters) and one cannot walk up on rafting birds there. It is viewed as "rallying".

This is just 3rd hand info - but it may be worth checking out.

All the best,

SJS

Thank you Steve
I was wondering the same thing
I know very little about hunting in Texas and my son is thinking about moving to the north east area of Texas.
Hunting from a scull boat is just about the only way I hunt now days .

Leonard,

Lou Tisch who is a member of this site has done plenty of hunting in Texas. I know he was a scull boat hunter but don't know if he ever sculled the state of Texas. Maybe he will see your post. Or send him a private message. He would help any way he can.

It took a couple days but I was able to talk to a game warden in Texas
who told me hunting from a scull boat was ok .
Now I just need to check out the different bodies of water for rules about waterfowl hunting .

Paul,

I bought a kit from Lou in 1988. I assembled it myself, and I believe a kit price was right at $1,000.00 including the oar.
