Scott,
It is rated for a 15 hp. I ran a 15 Johnson on my 93 until last season. If you hunt alone with a dog and gear you will be fine. Anything more and it will be under powered. I just put a new 25 hp Yamaha on mine. Plenty of motor. My only concern is the TDB motor mount integrity. Ratings are 6 persons or 650 pounds or 965 pounds with motor, persons and gear.

Hope this helps.

Hi Rod,
Its my buddy's boat and he want to put a 25 on it. I just thought it might be too heavy. we hunt together a lot , so there are 2 people in the boat most of the time.
thanks scott

My old 15 hp weighed 85 lbs, the new Yamaha non electric start weighs 125. The new engine seems to cantilever off the back more than the old one.

I ran a 25 Yamaha on mine. I think I would rather suck start a Benelli running a smaller outboard on it. With the 25, I managed about 28 mph fully loaded.
