Help IDing this carver...

Cheech Kehoe

I decided to re-rig my longlines because...they desperately needed it and I am so proud to have Goldeneyes from John Bourbon, Tim Bobedier, Clint Taylor, Julie Gilbert, Eddie Gagne, and soon Dave Diefendorfer. (and a great pair of Buffies from Brian Moyse), But I have this one Goldeneye hen and I cannot remember where she came from. Any help would be appreciated as I'm a little embarrassed not to remember. Thanks in advance.

I am pretty sure that is one of Leo Labonte's early decoys. He doesn't use that keel any longer though.

You are correct! He hadn?t signed the bottom and I think I got it from a DU banquet but that part is still a little bit of a mystery. Thank you!

Hello Cheech,

Matt was correct. That is one of my very early decoys. I did donate it to a DU banquet, and George is correct. I will gladly sign it if you would like. Glad to see it is holding up!

Leo,

It has held up great! I now live in Kansas after 20+ years in VT. Its a beautiful decoy and the side I photographed hadn't been shot at all[whistle]. It has held up great! I'm going to write your name on the bottom because all the decoys I have came from someone or have meaning and that is part of the joy for me. I just brain farted on where that one decoy came from. Thanks for confirming it's origin. You do pretty work!

All the Best,

Cheech

BB holes add character!! Email me your address and I will mail you one of my copper tags to put on the side of the keel.
