Beautiful morning

Very nice way to start out a morning! Beautiful morning indeed....

Happy Birthday!

Dave and Dani,

Thanks for the birthday wishes. It turned into a great day. I forgot my spotlight this morning but I had a back up high intensity flashlight in the truck. My grandson says my truck needs organized (cleaned out) and I keep telling him I'm just "prepared". [cool]

Is that spread of 11 or so all you needed? Congrats on the hunt and birthday.

Eric

Eric,
I had 11 goose decoys and one dozen duck decoys, with a landing zone between them. Not every bird I saw today wanted to work, but the ones that did can right into the pocket. I passed on a trio of Woodies which dropped down just outside and swam in. Also whiffed on a pair in the middle of the morning. [whistle]

The drake Mallard came around 5 times before he finally committed.

Thanks for the birthday wish. When I got home, it was raining and I slipped when stepping out of the boat unloading some gear. Thought I was going to do a face plant on the concrete driveway, but ended up sacrificing my knee. It left a mark! Didn't cut my pants but tore up the skin underneath. I gotta be more careful. [crazy]

Happy belated B-day! It looks like you had quite a good day. We are on season break for several weeks now and when things reopen there will be a lot of other seasons open in competition, so we will be busy then.

Tod,
Thanks for the birthday greeting.

I saw quite a few more birds than what I had been seeing a week or so ago. Snow and weather in the Dakotas and Minnesota may have driven a few new birds in. Not a major migration just yet as I still saw many groups of local Teal and Woodies. Also I never observed any high flying flocks heading South.

Our season split is over and we are in the second half of duck season. Goose season has another split in early December.

Looked like a great morning! Happy belated birthday. I didn't realize our birthdays were so close together.

Ed,

It was a good day. Thanks

"close together"? If I'm not mistaken, aren't you several years later? Another case of better late than never? [whistle]

Happy belated birthday wishes old man!
Great looking group of birds you took. You won't be going hungry with success like that.
