You seaduck hunters....

So "here" theres been a steady influx of scotors and Eiders in the bay over the last couple years, never had them before and never hunted them.
Any advice on decoys, tactics, is appreciated. I realize these things ain't the brightest bulbs in the chandelier, but I'd like to avoid a big investment in decoys if possible.
For instance, I have a broadbill layout rig on longlines that I don't use anymore, If I paint them flat black will that suffice?, especially if I add a dozen or so Eiders at the head of the rig? and I'd like to gun them from my work skiff, which doesn't seem to bother them as I can sail pretty close to them before they move...

Thanks for looking...[cool]

I've watched guys shoot scoters on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in white fishing boats and crabbing boats. I agree with the others, paint the bluebills only if you want to, but it's not necessary. Last time I was out for sea ducks out of Tilghman Island I'd say half the "decoys" on the strings were crab pot buoys painted black.

If you want to make a quick effective seaduck rig, google buoy decoys, these are just a few examples of what you'll find... Credit to whoever made them!
