Good Morning,

I picked up a sneakbox hull from Josh. It was fiberglass over cedar. I stripped off the fiberglass to allow the hull to dry out over the winter. It looks like an older boat as the previous owner fiberglassed over the edge. It looks to have had a canvas deck cover at some point. It looks like the plank seams where filled with putty and then the hull was fiberglassed.

Any ideas on how to identify a builder?

Congratulations on your new project! I?m no expert, but a few pictures from the inside might help those who are. Some builders had characteristics if you know what to look for. Ribs, carpentry etc. is the deck tongue and grove? What kind of screws? Then again if you can crawl around the inside a bit you might get lucky with a plate or brand. Good luck!

Steve,

I think I may have read that book years ago. Is that the book where the author talks about Sea Bright Skiff rumrunners and Coast Guard boats being built side by side?
