The Trip

Well, the adventure begins all geared up to hunt redheads in the panhandle. The "word" is redheads are in with a few blue Bill's mixed in. Oh and of course the dreaded buffleheads. Which my hunting buddies love to shoot. I prefer not to. Last year we brought the 18 ft. gatortrax but were blown off the bay. I think we will make it this year. Also hope to get some fishing in. Whew retirement is ruff.lol. I'll try and get some pics for after the adventure. The trucks loaded boats on the trailer.View attachment Resized_20191025_170359_163726701044416.jpegView attachment 20210103_125513.jpgView attachment 20210103_133355.jpg

John~

Let me see if I understand....the winds get so bad that you have to rig on the front lawn????

Nice looking Redhead stool - best of luck!

Well, that Dougherty designed hull should keep you safe! Good luck, John, my favorite bird to hunt.

Have a great trip John!!!! Haven't heard much recently on many new birds showing up yet. Hope you have lots!

Well here's the skinny. We put the boat in and started scouting, I had some info on different points to check. After travelling 17 miles, in 3 foot seas with an occasional 4. It was determined "hell no!!!". But it was a learning experience. Met a young warden who was a hellva nice guy, gave us some reference points. Well the wind blew for 2 days so we headed south. If I had to guess I would say we saw over 20 thousand birds. Brought me back to the old days when I was a kid, rafts of birds. I'll be going back before the season is out.

Good morning, John~

Sorry the wild weather kept you from rigging, but....

It seems like you made a wise decision. And, I'm glad you saw so many birds. That sort of abundance - of anything in nature - surely s good for the soul.

All the best,

SJS
