Can anybody recommend Guides for snow goose hunts.

When is the best time to book?

The problem with greater snows is that they are totally unpredictable. Good luck finding a guide who will REALLY be UP FRONT with you about snows. Will you get a refund? Is the license and state stamp included in the fee?
Over the past five years, those damn things have had folks pulling their hair out. Find field with snows, get permission, then when you get set up for the next morning, you discover that you found them at the end of their feeding in that field, and watch as MAYBE they fly over THAT field, headed for new grounds.
You might find more snows during the conservation season, in New York, or even Vermont.
You can always hope quebec opens up for hteir spring shooting. That is always a circus!
In my opinion, hunting Labrador ducks may be less chancy!
Have fun. Hot Google for snow guides in those states. Make sure they have references and insurance!

Ha Ha HHHAAAAA!!!!!

Snow geese, greater & lesser have always made hunters pull out their hair, and worse.

That is WTF they DO.

Let that get to you, and you will loose what mind you have.

The Spring season only made them much more educated, and folks that have hunted them for lots of years know that.

Any "guide" or hunter that sez it's a sure thing.... RUN AWAY RUN AWAY.

I wish you well and good luck, from a recovering gooseaholic.

Couple things: Most guys guiding snows in NJ are fully booked now. The real issue is every guide, at this time, is guiding south of I-195 north of the snow line. So areas like Hunterdon County and Warren are un-huntable at this point which have mostly private land, but can get extremely good. Time, now till mid/end of March. The birds right now are still hanging south due to the snow line. Southwestern NJ has them, DE and MD probably do as well. Right now, if at all possible, I would try to get a guide in DE.

For NJ, One Tree Outfitters is top notch in NJ.

In the future, try to book sometime in the summer or fall, as spots fill quick. My buddies and I usually try to book one hunt in February and one in March.

We've done the DIY thing with no success. Had a field in the promised-land in Warren/Hunterdon counties. We set up an 800 decoy spread and it was literally a drop in the bucket of what we needed to pull birds. We watched 10,000 birds pass over all day, giving one circle, and heading on to the roost.
