NY Snow geese

Curious for the general review of using a guide for Snows in the spring in NY. Upstate- maybe within 2 hours of the Lake George area? Recommendations on guides, overall review if its even worth my time or just go further away from the northeast for one of these hunts?

I don't have one in NY but this year may be a tough one. NY has a lot of these birds traveling through and this year they might be moving even faster than years past due to snow. Thoroughly vet your guide service. Expect minimum 1500 decoy rigs, very good concealment, and absolutely-required: A guide that scouts. The birds up there are NOT like South NJ, Delaware and Maryland birds. If they are working a field, they may only do so for a day or two before they travel 20-30 miles north in the next day.

Anthony, how is David doing? I have hunted with him several times (for ducks). But he is a goose outfitter first and foremost. I would think that would be a good choice, if you and when you can cross the border.

Went with Matt at Frontier guide service, he couldn't work hard enough for you, had good fields, great dogs..been some time since I went but I'm sure he's still around.

I didn't read close enough Anthony, and crossed the names. You are correct, David is St Lawrence outfitters, not St Lawrence River Outfitters.

I also used Matt from Frontier guide service. I agree he really works hard and will try his best to put you on the birds. We had a great time there. Will definitely be going back in the future.

Good luck bud , nothing like it when you get into them. Even if you don't have a great hunt. If you see them up close coming down from high above. You will enjoy the hunt. Hope you get great shooting. Don't flock shoot them like lots of people do. Pick one out and them go for the others. Been hunting a long time. First time I saw thousands come down at once. I messed up big time. It can happen even to the best of us. Best of luck and stay safe.
