Hour Meter

Does anyone run and hour meter on their outboard? Looking to put one to eliminate the guesswork on when to perform certain maintenance.

My Tiny Tach has a built in hour meter. When the motor is running it displays rpms. When the motor is off it displays runtime in hours.

I run an hour meter. It is mounted next to my other gauges and wired to the ignition switch. Anytime the ignition is on so is the hour meter.
 
It uses an induction pickup on a sparkplug wire and the readout is mounted anywhere you can. I put mine on the tiller.
