My Canon 7D finally died about 3 weeks ago. It gave me almost 10 years to really enjoy using it. I'm betting that I had about 400,000 actuations on it so I can see why it got tired and croaked! The good news for me was that I found another used 7D and got it not so long ago. I have to admit that I sure had fun back at Bosque del Apache NWR. There are still a few thousand light geese and sandhill cranes. Luckily, there are plenty of ducks to check out, also.

Good morning,Vince. I am glad you liked that shot of the cinnamon drake. I, for one, hav never gotten used to seeing them every Spring time for the 24 years that we have been living in New Mexico. Please know that not always do they come back here during the reverse migration when the duck season is on. They are gorgeous ducks..

The other teal that I look forward to seeing but have only seen two are the drake bluewing teal all dressed up for Spring time.

That was a good one. Brad, I remember one afternoon during our monsoon season. The dark clouds from the west were blowing in and you could see out in the desert the rains falling and coming our way. To add to this, there were lots of lightning strikes. I made sure I had my camera and when the storm was on us, began to focus my attention to M mountain where the city of Socorro is. It is 5 miles north/northwest of us. I began trying to take some pictures of lightning and did get 6 of them. I did have to go through 2,800+ shots that I took back then. It was worth it.

However, I can no longer prove it because over the years I have lost many of my photos by hitting the wong keys on my compture.

Hi Bob,
It is a wonderful time of the year. Bev and I love going to Bosque del Apache NWR. Since it is only 12 miles from our home to the refuge, we know how lucky we are. On the bucket list, with fingers crossed, will be to some day maybe having the chance to see a mountain lion. I know that I have been close to them and have seen their tracks however no visual on the elusive cat yet.

This made me think of the last day that Darren Brooks from Ohio hunted with me in January, of maybe 2008. We had set up on the Rio Grande and had a cat scream not very far from us. I can remember Darren telling me that the hair on the back of his neck was standing straight out. I'm bald so I didn't have to worry about it!

Great pictures Al!!! I have only known one other person who has ever worn out the button on a camera! It will tickle him to find out that I now know someone else. He mainly takes pictures of back yard birds and bald eagles and space pictures though.

Someday I would love to get out to Bosque del Apache during the height of the migration and get to see all of the birds all plumed out. See the snow geese like you see. I have seen them in large numbers before, but really only from afar.

Love the pintails
