On a Sunny Saturday we headed out to clean out as many wood duck boxes we could. When your carrying four people a twenty or so foot ladder plus tools and nesting materials. Its a hard task to take on. With the virus this past year we didn't build any boxes. So I thought we would go all out and try to clean out any boxes we missed during the virus lock down. We cleaned out a total of thirteen boxes. Found a single whole eggs in four of them along with broken egg shells. And in a total of nine there were wood duck feathers all built into the nesting inside the box. This was such a great find , if you hunt wood ducks your welcome lol. Plus we saw paired up mallards , black ducks etc, It was a great day all around for the wood duck. They got home makeovers and new roofs on some of them. Their homes were repaired and all new bedding. Thanks to Duck Hunters.Cleaning out a nest is just the same as putting out a new nest. We still have about eighty to clean out. This past year and a half set us back just like everyone else. But it felt good to do what I love. Hope your all safe and healthy. God bless the ones we lost.
