Got a little work done.

Finished a couple quick projects that I've been wanting to do on the snowgoose.

Put (yet another) new tach in. The batteries keep wearing out, this one has a replaceable battery (and also the potential for the seal on the battery compartment to leak).

I've wanted a mini tank to run the motor on with ethanol free gas for years and I finally put one together (couldn't find a small ready made tank under a couple gallons). Here in CT, I can't get ethanol free gas at the pump here and I've had occasional problems with my carbs on the F40 getting gunked (they are really complicated carbs and the repair bill is $$$$$$ when they need work). I just had the carbs rebuilt and that was the drive to get this tank put together. My plan is to run the motor for the last few minutes at the end of the day on pure gas with the hopes that will help with the carb issues.

Putting some time on the new tank.

Next project is to put a starter in it. I have a new toothed flywheel and that will be my first baby step.

Tod,
Looking good.

Tech tip; Get the proper puller to remove your present flywheel. They can be stuck rather tight to the shaft. Using the right tool will make the job go easier with less chance of damaging anything.

Thanks, Dave, I have one that I bought for the job, it looks like it should be about perfect - we will see though. I've had both the flywheel and puller for several months - I've either been having too much fun or I'm scared to start (probably both :).

That body of water could pass for Lake Guntersville. Similar terrain in the background. I have started adding stabil to my fuel if it is going to sit very long as well as seafoam during the season. So far so good. If I were to need a carb rebuild I don't even know where to go anymore. My mechanic closed up shop and there isn't anyone close I'd trust to do the work.

I too buy ethanol free fuel in the one gallon cans. A guy on YouTube did a 18 month test only fuel that survived was ethanol free. The others had ethanol fuel and he mixed a different fuel additive in each one. Number one problem with ethanol is its hydroscopic and absorbs water from the air.

That is the closest lake to home, but usually duckless, very deep along the edges and little feed.

I?m a religious user of seafoam and stabil. What gets me on this motor is leaving it to sit when I?m gone in the summer. Leaving the bowls full seems best, running it dry and draining it seems the worst. So, I figured if I?m letting it sit with gas in it, the gas might as well be good stuff. My mechanic is great, but he is on the Gold Coast, so $$$$$$$. 140 per hour.

I always try to bring back a can of pure gas when I travel, but I bought a gallon of the trufuel in the metal gallon can since I?m out.
