Another Northern Maine opener thread.

Spent the last couple days chasing grouse, ducks and working on the camp.

Slow grouse hunting, one bird in a bout 12-15 hours afield. The ducks cooperated much better. Shot our 2 mallard limits very quick and added a nice GW teal to the bag too. Had I been a little quicker, I might have added a grouse on the set as one flew over the water we were watching.

Good luck to those with upcoming seasons, our southern opener is Friday.

For the Pearl followers, she did great, a little hard headed/excited on a blind, but that's my fault for not training prior. I ended up shooting numbers 1399 and her 1400th career retrieves. She ended the weekend on 1405.

The camp walls went together great and will be adding the base cabinets this coming weekend.

Thanks. Troy

That looks like a great weekend! and the cabin looks great too.

Corral that moose and feed it until I draw my Maine moose tag. :).

Good stuff.

If I was there, I'd be a little over-excited, just like Pearl!

Hi Troy,
You are doing what most hunters can only dream about. Thanks so much for the grand pictures that you showed us. I see an artist's touch in you that I had not seen before. Good for you. As for Pearl, I'm glad you kept a diary on her and the number of retrieves she has made for you. I did that with Chili, also.

Enjoy your fall hunts and stay safe.
Al

Thanks Carl. It was nice to see some birds as well as hear the air dumping from their wings. This is the first year hunting with that sweet 16 for me, so an exciting morning for all.
