John oliver duck stamps

Nick~

I appreciated Mr. Oliver's inimitable "measured and professional" account of the federal Duck Stamp. Not surprising that - just like too many contests - longstanding squabbles among contestants seems to be a part of the process...

And, as I've expressed here previously, I sorely miss the artistry of the earlier, Old School stamps. I'm not a fan of today's photorealism anywhere in the world of art.

John Ruthven's understated wash drawing still draws me in - whether or not Redhead drakes ever tag along with broods.

My father checked the bidding numbers on the paintings and they were at $20k the hour after I made the original post. Not sure where they landed. Hopefully that gets donated to usfws.

My favorite reference to ducks on stamps in any movie, or documentary is in FARGO.

What used to be, and now never is the importance of the 2 cent stamp.

Now everyone's 2 cents worth applies to the duck stamp contests....
