35 lbs now and growing into her legs. She still bounces around all the time, to let me know she had 10 times the energy I do

Dave, did you catch that or did the pup? When the folks living in Labrador and Newfoundland were creating that new "retriever", they were working on having the new breed retrieving fish. Is your dog a direct line decendant? That made me think that most of the folks were culling the chocolate/brown factor that popped up so just think how fortunate you really were to have a survivor in your possession.

Looks a LOT bigger in that pic. They do have a lot of energy. Beavs is just over a year and other than bulking up a bit he is hopefully done growing at 70 pounds. We have never had a dog with so much energy.

When I was a kid we had a springer who was a fantastic water dog. He did retrieve bass I had hooked. He also once retrieved a jointed #7 floating Rapala. (Note that I said he was a great water dog, not a well-trained or intelligent dog!) No permanent damage was done, but the extraction at the vets office was enough to convince me that pinching barbs is the way to go.

Dave's dog is looking good, and will probably calm down in another 3 or 4 years.
