What's on your WORK BENCH - MARCH 2022

Lots on my bench - most of which need to be done by COB Thursday - to bring to LI on Friday for the LI Decoy Collectors Show.

In no particular order (which pretty much describes they way I work when on deadline.....):

These LL Bean Deluxe Oversize Black Ducks are all done and ready to be returned to their owner.

Here's a bit closer look.

I decided to edge the primaries - as the Beans had gone to the trouble to carve the primary groups in relief.

This will be the canvas for the Meadow Box/Gunning Coffin I've been refurbishing. I had to buy a new steam iron this morning before I could sew some of the tighter curves.

The big "monkey wrench" thrown into my schedule was these flap boards. I ordered the marine plywood 2 weeks ago - and it finally arrived yesterday morning. They (all 4) have been laid out and 'glassed both sides. Side 2 is now curing next to the stove.

The Mahogany thatch rails have been shaped and ripped. They will get their spacers first thing tomorrow morning.

Although not time critical, I've continued progress on my 7 Herters Model Canadas. The Mallards are all done.

I just picked up the "right" grey - Behr Suede Gray - for the primary edging.

I made these stickups a few years ago - to stage faux shorebird shoots.

Ten of these stickups will adorn a sort of frieze atop our main display panel.

I carved this Whimbrel a few years back. I will include it among our "contemporary Shorebirds" if I can paint it to my satisfaction.

This little vessel is designed for bathtub seas.....

Here's the finish paint - and varnish - on the Model 72 Pintail I've been restoring. It has since been re-fastened to its body. It is not needed this weekend - so it sits at the back of the queue right now.....

Now I've got to make a fire in the living room for this evening.....

All the best,

Your pace and ability to complete projects is impressive to say the least. On top of that they are always so well done. Much inspiration from your posts, no doubt.

Eric

The amount of work that you do is also impressive. Needless to say all top notch work. I'm loving the Bean black ducks. They are now much too beautiful to throw into the water, and let float in the wild! I will have to gently place them in a salt bath in the marsh to complete their "spa treatment ". Thank you Steve. Looking forward to talk to you Saturday

Good morning, Mike~

I'm glad you like your birds' new finery - and look forward to seeing you soon.

All the best,

SJS

Not anywhere near the complexity of what the rest of you are working on, but I?m pleased with the results. Restle coated and painted some Herters.

Ken~

Nice work! I like the way you graded (shaded? faded?) the grey on the back.

All the best,
