Need a cover for my 14? Smokercraft semi-v. Don?t want to spend a fortune but need something that will hold up under Florida sun for more than one year.
Any recommendations?

For Tampa, mildew resistance and UV degradation would be the principal concerns, followed by fit.

I agree with Capt Rich...double-covering" is the ticket . My first experience keeping a larger boat exposed to the NC sun 12 months didn't go well. It was a relatively expensive canvas cover that lasted maybe 2-3 years. Then I boat a less expensive cover and covered this second cover with the somewhat-tattered-in-some places first cover. After about 5 years the top (older) cover finally gave yup the ghost so I bought a tarp to go over the cover that I purchased second time. In 17 years I owned that boat I bought only 3 covers...possibly only 2 covers..I don't remember exactly.
Another key point is make a good support structure to keep water from pooling and then tearing the cover when water weight gets excessive.

Carl, I got this for the mud boat

Amazon.com: Orgrimmar 600D Boat Cover Heavy Duty Waterproof Trailerable Boat Cover with 2 Air Vents Fits V-Hull,Tri-Hull,Fishing Boat,Bass Boats,Pro-Style,Runabout (Gray, 17-19ft) : Sports & Outdoors

I think I have had it for right at a year so far and I have been pleased with it. I can't help you on UV resistance because where the boats sit is shaded, but I would definitely throw a tarp over the cover to help with that. I would also look for a marine grade fabric if you are looking for the best UV resistance.

I don't trailer the boat with the cover on it so I can't help you on quality of this cover in regards to that.

If the waterproofness goes away, that is usually easily fixed with a coating of Kiwi Kampdry....I have had good luck with that on tents and popups.

Definitely not Florida but i,ve had good luck with 16 mil silver tarps. These aren,t the cheaper 12 mil you get at big bx stores. I get them off amazon/ebay thru a welding supply place in California. I got the silver to reflect back suns heat but they also sell them in white. Build an a- frame that sits inside boat on bow and rear seats with a minimum 4/12 pitch from 2" pvc pipe to shed rain and of course here snow. Allow enough length and width to get a good overlap that can be bungeed down. Have 3 boats covered that way from 2072 Seaark to 15 ' Ghenooe. Boats set in sun year round and i,ll usually get at least 4 years from covers. Just under $100 for biggest tarp which is 12' x 24' .

I got a similar one as Dani off of Amazon. I trailer with it, and the blind stays up so it got a few rips in it. It lasted 2 years in the CT darkness. That being said, I probably could have gotten 3-4 years off of it if the bow didn't have an ice berg on top and when we went to take the cover off it ripped right off and a piece of the cover was still frozen the the deck. If I had a garage or had swept the snow/ice off when it precipitated and not waited to remove it at 5am, may have helped. Still, it was cheap
