I'm refurbishing a 21' 1994 Van Lancker designed version from the Meridian ownership period that I bought down in Sister Bay, Wisconsin a month back. This hull sold poorly as a walkaround largely because of the garish bow pulpits. The Dougherty 22' is the quintessential 'Unsinkable Legend' hull, used in pleasure, public safety, fire patrol, military, and work boats. I prefer these because of their 8'-6" which enhances stability in a rough chopl While there to pick the boat up I had the opportunity to get a tour from the owner who did a completely restored 1971 hull like yours...beautiful boat and restoration job. While he has it for sale, his asking price is a broad "discouragement" to anyone attempting to part him from it- $74,000.00!

They are fantastic boats. Mine has caught everything from bluegill to blue marlin and has been used for everything from sea duck hunting to sea rescue! Even swamped it offshore while tuna fishing out of NC. Truly an unsinkable legend...with a legendary rough ride

I worked out of two Dougherty designed Outrages, 18' and 22', and a Nauset 17' on Lakes Michigan, Huron, and Superior when I was working in fisheries research. Running gillnets, otter and frame trawls, benthos sampling via Ponar dredge, doing larval fish and plankton tows, etc. Our saying was: You may arrive at the dock a bit shorter, but you will always come back... Sank once on Lake Michigan during a warm wavy summer day. Swamped once on the St. Marys on a frigid spring night after ice out...those events all averaged out. Neither hull I was in, Aquasport, for Sea Ox, did I trust half as much as a Boston Whaler's.
Good luck on your sale of those striking cork black ducks.
