Recent Decoy and Duck Call Auction

Thanks for putting that link up, there were some really fun decoys in there. Makes me wish I had more of an antique collector streak in me. Did YOU win anything?!?!?

Always makes me a little melancholy seeing those estate sales - can't help but to think about how my prize possessions will end up.

I participated, but did not win anything. Looking at the closing prices, I should have paid more attention, though I really don't "need" any of them.

I didn't bid on anything. In fact I forgot all about the auction until my son reminded me this morning. I first found it a couple weeks ago and knew there were some desirable collectables, but I'm not in tune with decoy and call values so I didn't intend to bid. But having said that when I look at the final bids there has to have been some very good deals. The auctioneer didn't place carver's names on many of the decoys. I figure if a sharp shooter collector who knows the market played he did quite well. Some of those decoys just look way more valuable then what they went for. The trick is to know which ones, and I don't.

As for my stuff when I'm gone, I'm fortunate that Thomas has similar interests to me. He will get the shop and contents. He graduates in Dec and I'm really hoping he winds up back in Huntsville. If he does there is no doubt my things will stay in the family after I'm gone. If not I've told my wife to call an auctioneer.

Eric
