Just picked up a like new 9.9 2 stroke (94). It is the oil injected model, 100 to 1. What mix have you used to ensure this nearly 30 year motor lasts?

OIl injected as in it has an oil tank under the cowling you fill, not pre-mix the gas in the tank?
I didnt know they made a 9.9 with oil injection??

Had an 84 DT9.9 that was a great motor!!!
Only problem I ever had was the kill button would stick in the cold.I moved it from the end of the tiller to the side of the cowl and never had another problem.
That thing was a tank with 50/1 premix

Yes Carl, the tank is beneath the cowling, DT9.9, I guess they made them for about 5 years, this is a 95, it's a100 to 1 mix but I plan to run it around 50 to 1. Electric start. Just picked it up, bayonet coupling for the fuel line was missing when I went to start it . Ordered a new fuel line and couplings, the old line (27years) is a little hard same as the bulb. Low,low hours, really like the electric start.

Neat.
Can you put oil in the tank and pre-mix the fuel?
I assume if there is no oil in the tank, you will get an alarm?

Yes, that's the plan. I turned it over with no oil and level indicator showed a red light Making a grass cover for it,

Use the ratio the manufacture specified for that particular motor. The engineers and the manufacture, have literally invested thousands of dollars in research and testing to ensure they have provided you with the proper information. It is in their best interests that your engine last and that you are totally satisfied with their product.

The linked video also applies to outboard motors, even more so to ones used at less than full throttle. (note in the video about Weed Wacker engines and throttle rpm's.)

Yes, doubling up on the oil can harm your engine. A small increase of oil may be acceptable but please don't double up on it. Again, the engineers have already determined what is best for this engine.
