Keeping the duck dog busy. Final update, 10/26.

Was the solar easy to install on your rig? What product did you end up going with? I have contemplated adding it to my camper. I have some work to do on it and figured if I am going to be doing work, maybe do it all at once.

Intermediate difficulty if you make it such. Pretty easy, really. I am a disciple of handy Bob and follow his way 100%. He has a blog that describes everything needed and how to do it and why most installs are wrong. I use a trimetric controller, they are amazing to work with.

Tod,
Outstanding trip. How is it your are still west of the Mississippi? I figured I probably missed your journey home. Don't you have students to harass?

THANKS and Yes Dave, South Dakota is West of the Mississippi :).

I'm ending the trip tomorrow, I'm tired and it looks like I'll be heading back to Wyoming later in the month to winterize our new house there and celebrate its purchase. It isn't final, but we have an accepted offer on the house today and will close end of the month.

Wow!!! What a great trip all around. Thanks for sharing!

A former student of mine spent her summer in Wyoming finding and collaring Mule Dear fawns, I wonder if you saw one of hers. She's in the Adirondacks of NY now working with Moose Biologists. I keep telling her she's my Scouting partner for future hunts!

Tod, congrats all the way around, on the trip and the house. Loos like a blast and there will be more in the future.

Final update with trophy pics.

We have been hitting the game I brought home pretty hard as I'm thawing and processing it. It has been spectacular.

Antelope tenderloin using some fun garden specialties in the wine reduction: homegrown hardneck garlic, ripe jalapenos and pickled green coriander.

Antelope hindquarter. Sous vide with garlic, rosemary and lemon zest and finished on the grill.

Prairie chicken fricassee with drop biscuits baked on top. Prairie Chicken legs and thighs with 100% garden produce: carrots, potatoes, garlic and sage.

Elk Tacos de Lengua. Crisping the tongue makes it a whole 'nuther thing. Cooked ripe jalapeno salsa and beautiful cilantro from the garden on a homemade corn tortilla. Save those tongues!

Finally, the trophy of trophies from the trip and for the long term. We closed on the new house!!!!

Brand new 20.5kW solar array and barn.

Pretty beat up pasture, but it is ours. Lander cutoff of the Oregon trail goes through the neighbors' places in the background.

Ceilings high enough for elk mounts :). I'm headed out for a couple weeks in a couple weeks to finalize things before deep winter sets in (although it was 10F there this morning).

Awesome spot Tod. Best of luck with it. Don't look back when you exit this shithole state.

I'll miss the clamming and the weather ! :). I still have some time here to enjoy what it has to offer, but yes, once gone, I don't think I'll look back!

That does not look like New England

Good eye. :). House is just south of Pinedale, WY. Feel free to drop by, house has a camper dump and electrical hookup.

Tod

Congrats on the new house and new state. So, what are you going to do with all that acreage? Livestock? High fence game ranch? Strip mall? Casino? Rendering Plant? :)

Ponies to carry our butts and gear into the mountains and out again! Couple riding horses and pack horses. The area is too dry to grow too much grass, but we have irrigation rights on the property and hope to grow some hay (we will be buying a lot too).

Tod

I just looked it up and your area gets less than 10" a year of rain. Not enough for grass so what do folks do for lawns? Nothing? Cacti :)

Eric

Irrigate or nothing, lot of option b in the area. :). The house is set up to irrigate a larger lawn than we would like, grass looked pretty nice, tho. Lot to learn and do to get it like we want it. Not a single tree on the property, which is appropriate.

Tod I also enjoy your adventures. I'm just thinking that your pending move will be a great culture shock as well as a tremendous landscape and weather change for you and the family. Are you ready? At any rate I wish you the best. Living the dream is cool.

Tod

Well it looks like a really neat house ready to start making a home. I sure hope you share your adventures in Wyoming as you have in CT.
