Here's an excerpt from a note I send to family and friends earlier today. It surely fits this audience, I believe:
The past 2 years' notable scarcity of waterfowl caused my gunning fraternity to reflect on our grand pastime - and the passing of years. I sent these thoughts around a couple of days ago - to contribute to the colloquy:
Indeed. I think of the "rich storehouse of memories" we each carry around with us. I often recall the decades I spent on saltwater - gunning and sailing - or the many trips up toward Parishville way. I suppose I "miss" them - but am more just profoundly happy and grateful that I have been able to have and enjoy those sublime experiences. I am content to think back and savor the recollections. We are all very lucky men. Despite the dearth of ducks in recent seasons, this old life just keeps getting better in all the ways that really count. A good thing to keep in mind as Thanksgiving bears down upon us.
I hope you each visit your own "storehouse" today - and enjoy the same sense of gratitude.
Wanting to leave you on a lighter note, I will steal shamelessly from Sesame Street. This "episode" was brought to you by the letter C - to honor all those who are never too old to make a Rookie Mistake - or at least invent a new one!
(This brand new roll of masking tape was "somehow" sliced in two by my bandsaw.....)
Happy Thanksgiving!

Very nice sentiment Steve, thanks. I too find myself doing a lot of fond 'remembering' lately. There sure have been a bunch the past 73 years and I'm grateful.
