New Jersey coastal zone hunters: question on scaup limit in new year

Hello everyone,

Quick question for my New Jersey coastal zone compatriots.

In the regs for coastal zone, they say the limit for scaup is two ducks 20 days before the end of the season; do they mean calendar days (Jan 9-28), or huntable days (Jan 6-28)?

I haven?t hunted scaup in years, but I finally get the car for the day, and time to go!

If you know the right person to ask aka: conservation officer for the done, please let me know.

Thanks in advance

Sincerely

Anthony

In the coastal zone section it says Jan. 6-28 2 birds, the bag limit section states 2 birds for the last 20 days which is a general statement for all zones.

Anthony-that would be huntable days here in NJ, because the season is not open on Sundays. Many years ago FWS let states that are closed to hunting on Sundays have compensatory days so that hunters were able to actually hunt on all of the open season days. Prior to that, a 60 day season here was more like 52 days. You are good to kill two scaup during the last 20 days of the open season, which is 6 days a week.
