This book has been in my library for 40 years, and has been read and reread many times. I highly recommend it for those that like good reading about the lifestyle that we enjoy.

I have somehow missed this one (I think....).
I could not help but notice, though, that you showed Norman Strung's Bayman's Solstice. It is the best story about the South Bay Duckboat - and Red Magnus and Ray Milek who created it. Red passed away about on year ago and, by coincidence, a friend just sent me a copy of the Strung story.
As I am seldom without a South Bay to restore - the last left my shop in January but I've got 5 or so coming this Spring - such tales hold real power for me.

I've not read that book but I've heard about it and it is quite collectible. I missed one at auction last fall but will have to pick up a copy.

Vince, that is an excellent book for the collection. I just got a copy of "A Waterfowl Gunners' Book" By F.Phillips also offers an awesome insight of stories from the traditional days of gunning. Highly recommend it! Ironically there's a story in there from 1931 about 2 hunters who sailed to Oak Island which is literally a mile from my hometown. Some great stuff back then..

Glad that folks enjoy the post. I have been collecting and reading books concerning art, hunting & fishing, wildlife, etc. for many years, and never tire of reading.
From time to time may post other books if ya do not mind.

I read recently about how many fly rods a fisherman needs. One plus the others you have, until you arrive at the point where yer wife leaves ya. I've not arrived at that point, and hope not to. In fact she mentioned that I should get a new fly rod. I dunno....

Keep your fingers crossed for March 4. I just planed a batch of White Ash last weekend.
(and I'm pretty sure I've read that Oak Island tale as well - Roland Clark?)

Yes Southbay! you were exactly what I thought when I opened it. Roland Clark is correct, I just purchased his book on Etchings some really nice artwork collections. That was some story, he has a fantastic way of explaining a story in detail.. Thanks & looking forward to seeing you shoving into the show soon [wink]
