Not many of these floating around.

Awhile back I had a decoy-maker send me a sweet Fulvous he carved. I made a mold with the intention of making dozens before we targeted them late-season. Too lofty a goal, but I finally built up a decent number enough to deploy in a spot that had nice visibility and wasn't too thick for decoys to be effective. Now I gotta try to keep cranking a few out here and there so I'm better set for the next round of opportunities in December. Fiberglass shell and foam-filled. Nice and light for our walk-in hunts.

Good morning, Derek~

Great work all around!

I've seen these neat birds in Texas - and I know a straggler can be found very rarely here in New York. I guess with climate change I'd better start watching the treetops....

All the best,

SJS

Those are pretty cool Derek. I have some foam bodies and some goose heads that I am going to turn into standing black belly decoys for shallow water or sticking on my boat as decoys.

Have you made blackbelly decoys like this? Or do y'all have more fulvous down there than blackbellies? I thought there were TONS of blackbellies down there....

The storm water pond in the subdivision just across from my office window usually has about 10+ blackbellies on it at any given time.....

Really like those Derek, it is so great that we have those tools at our disposal these days.

Nicely done on the Fulvous decoys!!

Whistled a few in this year and later in the season, they tend to stay sky high.
