Sharpsville, PA Pine

Previously I mentioned the Sugar Pine I use in many of my carvings, and the age of the wood.

This shows the remainder of the piece used for the Wood Duck decoy head, and top of body. Bottom of the decoy is local White Pine for weight to balance decoy.

Amazingly the workers in the pattern shops did not discard pine just because it contained knots. What may have been tossed in woodstoves survived for many years. Thank goodness.

Carl,

You are correct.

As of now I'm just enjoying as is until another bird or fish "appears" in the piece. Few to no pieces get unused, even the small slivers have their use. "Waste not want not."

Best regards
Vince
