Hello all,

I recently took a trip with my ole' Labrador pup sidekick up to the legendary Pencil Brook Farm in South Cambridge, NY where renowned artist, decoy carver, waterfowler & duck boat enthusiast Steven Jay Sanford resides. Like previous visits, I was thoroughly impressed with the usual sights and in awe of the scenery. This was a planned trip to embark on our upcoming 2024 presentation towards the LIDCA show featuring the Pattersquash Gunners Assoc. I was also in search for obtaining some b-roll footage of the carving, duck boat restorations, shop layout and all the many, many projects scattered throughout the land.

As always Steve welcomed me with open arms and I enjoyed an afternoon of capturing a look inside the world away from it all. Here's a peek at some of the images obtained from the visit and I will have some additional footage from the visit released later this month. Truly in awe at the precision to detail and I feel many would enjoy just as much as I have... enjoy!

First to put in perspective, Steve was kind enough to provide a map of the layout of the land! (Below)

Those are outstanding photographs of Steve and his place. I'm always amazed at his ingenuity, quality, and productivity and your photos give a nice glimpse into Steve's domain. Magazine quality stuff for sure.

Thanks Anthony, for sharing this perspective of Steve's life and work. Great perspective that shows more than when Steve posts smaller frame work photos, I look forward to the next video in the future to see the wonderful workings of the Pencil Brook Farm.

Steve, excellent craftsmanship and work place as usual.

Anthony, looking forward to seeing more in the future. My visits to Pencil Brook have all been in December, so my perspective is quite different to the landscape!

Steve, I have the gunnel edge for the Blackjack. It has seen better days and is not complete. I was debating replacing it or using it for the bow and sides and something different on the aft. Let me know if I should try to coil it into a box to ship, or use it as an excuse for a roadtrip this Summer? When you start on that project let me know.

Dave~

Will do! Right now I'm on Long Island. Three great duck-related meetings in 2 days. All fine people, but...I got to "meet" a 1918 grassboat this morning. I'll be featuring it here sometime this Summer.

All the best,

SJS
