Bankes Boats has closed shop

While cruising the 'net last night, I noticed that Ron Bankes has decided to retire and has shut down Bankes Boats. It does appear that he would like to sell the business. Hopefully someone takes over that can reproduce the quality work and service that Ron & Mike were known for.

Wow, that leaves a giant hole in the duckboat industry. I always figured Ron's son, Michael(?) would keep the business. I hope they find a capable buyer. Their line is too good to end.

I heard someone in Newfoundland or out that way was almost buying it, with a retailer in michigan. I guess that deal fell though

The deal with MMI fell apart as they over inflated their financial numbers, all website, social media / documentation with them ceased immediately since. Michael Banks himself the one and only, is working on obtaining the company for 2023-future. MMI was never a good match these boats wouldn't of had near the attention / quality they will if Mike locks down the deal hopefully sometime this summer!

Curious what the story is here. Joe's does a bankes not still own bankes? Father, son, relative? I know next to nothing about the company's history
