spent the last two days chasin seaducks in the bays over tata way all the way to wallace prety near.Took the whole family on friday christ the waves and wind were sumthin fierce decided to stay in the truck and look for open water had to go along way to find some and boy oh boy there was burds alot of mergs and whistlers[golden eyes] and a few hundred geese to boot.

so at 0330 i gets up sat mornin the last day of season ,im getting out to hunt no matter how cold it is yesterday was minus 13 C and wind chill -26 C with gales blowing .this am the wind is gone still -13 C tho and im afeared with no wind the place iwas headin to would be iced up .so after an hour of drivin i find ice for sure slob ice ,im going anyway ,no boat ramp so i just drop it on a sandy spot and pull me guts out to get it to the water tide is going out i got there at half tide;
load the boat up[14ft aluminimum] crank up the motor and i way i go ice breaking the slush and ice i head for the point to use the west wind to help keep me in water open water that is.made a bunch of rounds to cut open a hole so wind could move it out in the bay as the tide droped.
put out 3 strings of dekes [eidahs and squaws ,goldens,] a few blacks a goose for good measure and 5 or 6 of my homemade foamers,all tolled i think i had 50 dekes out.

which took alot of time as the water was to deep to wade and well with a stiff breeze blowing any way i had dozens of goldens landin in and taking off as i put them out in the predawn light .figures i always had sumthin other then me gun in me hand when they showed up out of the darkness to say hello and happy new year to me ,and when they left i think i heard them saying Na na na na na season is almost over and you missed your chance.

wind picked up i decided to cover the boat with sheets and make like a ice berg lol and set off shore dam wind blew the ice away and burds flared off so after a few flocks i beached the boat on the shore in the ice there.

i called a merg in got it about 40 yards double tap for insurance,then later i fired at a flock of goldens never cut a feather they were about 50 yards out i figured i mite as well shoot and hope for the best its the last day and all,so after a bit a big flock of them big taste mergs come by the big green head males and i try again when they flare bang poof one falls and i fire at another but there realy far away now,i paced it off 55 paces to where it fell ,a real beauti full grown male.

so tide comes in and i can get the boat close to the bank and i spend 2 hours hauling boat and gear out and on the trailer,and take off not to bad for a last day kick at the ol can as they say knowing if i had a
been a half hour or so earlier so i was to be ready for daylight shoot i could of had me limit for sure there were right in the dekes for crying out loud,big flocks and little ones and threes ,i thought jeeze if this keeps up come shootin time what a finisher it would be.

good day all in all good season up here now im heading down east as most the burds left for there and season is still open .
