ne have a 391 Xtrema 3.5"

Nice looking gun Dave, but I wouldn't get the cammo one. The first time you set it down to take a leak would be the last time you ever saw it. : )

Makes me wonder who was the genius behind cammo lighters, jacknives, flashlights, thermoses, trucks, etc...

Dave:
I bought a 390 which is essentially the same as the 391 for the soft recoil. I tore up an old surgically repaired rt shoulder and many on this post recommended it. I was able to shoot with it but had it misfire several times. I was told by a gunsmith that maybe the misfires was the fact I babied the shoulder?? He maybe right for I'm scheduled for more surgery on that shoulder next week. My son bought a Benelli at the same time and if you aren't concerned with recoil I would go with the Benelli---both come up well but the Benelli has a history of never jamming in all kinds of weather. My 2 cents and I'm sure you'll get many replies to your query.

Dave, I bought the 390 Camo when they first came out some 8 or so years ago. I clean it ONCE A YEAR....at the end of my season. Have never had any trouble with it. I shoot it for everything....from doves in September, duck and pheasants in N/S Dakota in October/November, to late season ducks (not too cold this December) here in Ohio.

IT IS THE BEST INVESTMENT I have ever made for hunting!

I even used it this fall to hunt deer (in Ohio we can't use rifle to hunt deer).
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a 390 to anyone. My .02 cents.

Extrema2! If I could only afford one. An acquaintance of mine who hunts waterfowl everywhere from Nova Scotia to New Brunswick to Onatrio and is an extremely avid waterfowler shoots one so thats good enough for me. However I have read about some problems with it not working with light loads I believe that this was in a forum in http://www.shotgunworld.com/
I had one in my hands yesterday at the Gun Dealor in McAdam NB and it is a sweet gun and surprisingly light for a semi.

Just my thoughts.

i got the camo one - use it for skeet/sporting clays with 2 3/4 one oz. and never have trouble with it

use it for ducks and geese with 3" or 3 1/2" and much to my embarrasment went swimming with it -- took it apart - dried and lubed -- no problems and its been over a year

probably put 750-1000 rounds a month thru it - do clean it more often than the once a year stated above - but thats just me -- its soft and reliable - i give it ***** stars

my buddies that have the benelli likethe baretta better for its softer and two of the three have dumped the benelli's and gone to the baretta

funny side note -- i hunt in canada and the first time i went over to register the gun it was being inspected by two customs officers a male and a female -- the male officer was lookin the gun over real good and askin questions about it - when he said do you use the 3 1/2 much and for what i said yes i find it handy when hunting pteradactyl -- the female office looked at him and said "do we have those in onterio?" she was serious! we both looked at her kinda stunned - he then handed the gun to me and said you should go now -- i beat feet back to the car before exploding with laughter and drove like hell back to the american side of the bridge! TRUE STORY!

I love my Extrema. It's a big gun that fits me well and has very little recoil. I also clean mine very little and have had almost no trouble with it.

The gun should be broken in with a case or so of 1 1/8oz target loads. They won't cycle 1 oz. loads. So I guess that's the only downside.

I have a benelli SBE too and still use it, but am shocked by it's recoil after not shooting it for a while.

I love both guns though and would buy either one again.

I'll pass along the info to my buddy who plans on buying two 391's, one for himself and one for his son.

I seem to be going the other way with my new guns.........they have all been SXS's lately.

Thanks again for all the good input!

Dave
