NDR: fly fishing Patagonia?

good morning. please excuse the NDR post, but i ask here because i know i can trust folks on this board.

In short- my wife and i are off to climb and backpack in tierra del fuego/patagonia/chile/argentina for the month of Feb. i'd like to wet a line or two and do it on the cheap (sans fancy guide service). anyone have any location suggestions, first hand experience, friends trout bumming down there? thanks.

Thanks all.
Geoff

I would get ahold of Jason Borger or Gary Borger for that info. Jason is the shadow caster in River Runs Through It. I've taken several classes from he and Gary and they are great people....couple of my "heroes". You can go to www.jasonborger.com and sign up for his newsletter and ask him a question also. Tell him I sent you. Also, www.garyborger.com and see what he can give you....say HI for me there also.
Oh.......on top of being some of the best flyfishermen in the world, they are top notch bird hunters as well.

Thanks all.

i'll drop both of them a line and pass along your greetings. cool factoid about jason. thanks. geoff

Jason & Gary have traveled the world ......... fly fishing, along with Gary's wife (Jason's Mother) who also taught fly fishing. Gary's page has a neat write up on Jason. Jason caught his first trout "on a fly" when he was 31 months old.
I use and teach their casting method exclusively when I teach the fly fishing & casting schools for one of our clubs (www.mffc.org) .
They will steer you in the right direction.

I have no first-had experience but I did order the DVD Trout Bum Diaries Volume I: Patagonia from www.anglingexploration.com. It is a good video for people looking to bum around because it is a really good documentary/movie. My copy came last friday (I ordered it on Monday), 4 days after ordering.

Post pics when you get back!

When I worked for Patagonia-outdoor apparel back in the day-
They had a guide line and would help you out with stuff like that. Go to their web and look for the number.
I know that Yvon-the owner has done a ton of fishing there.
Let me know if it doesnt pan out for you and I can make a call-
One of my pals runs the fly fishing line-

Best
Tim
