Rongers told me this bird migrated. When am I going to see pics of it covered in a pile of its brethren???

These "coffee table book" shots are the only pics of that same bird that I can find in my file. The other pic was taken at Long Point Bay when the decoy was on the floor of Mark's tender amidst all the diver blocks. It went home with him ( a gift ).

I do have pics of one of my rig's widgeons in a similar pose.

that is one gorgeous bird! Really nice paint job, how did you get the stipple effect on the head? Did you use a tooth brush with paint on it and draw your finger across the bristles to get the effect? if that description makes any sense. I have used that technique to put the background stippling on pinball game cabinets that I have restored.

funny thing is I'm fixin to carve some wigeon and just last night I did a google surch for "Furia Spatter paint wigeon" to see what the spattering would look like on one. Well Done Bob, always a pleasure to see your work!

Bob, I got to rub on that bird the other day. It was very nice. Cool to actually see your work in person. Great job

Mike,

That description makes perfect sense, although I also use an actual brush known as a "spatter brush" in addition to a toothbrush. Do the ticking on heads as well as vermiculation with the spatter. Very effective on hens. Here's a widgeon pair.
