OK Fred, nice to hear from you again. You're pretty quiet on the 'fuge but always seem to get'r done in the big game and waterfowl department. I had a poor season due to just not getting out much this year but that will change. Am excited about building a boat.
 
HI:

I'm from Washington State. I've been duck hunting for 34 years now. I want to build a styrofoam layout boat this off-season, and build a 16' Devlin Scaup next year.

I'm a former champion duck caller, but prefer to call ducks and not trophies. I joined this website specifically to learn more about the trials and tribulations of those who have build duck boats, so my experience can be less stressful.
 
John, You came to the right site. There are a lot of experienced builders here which are more than welcome to share their experiences. The only thing they ask is pictures of your build. They are a bunch picture hungry boggers.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not afraid to post pictures and will do so when I start building next year. I bought the book and video plus a couple of "viewing" designs from Sam Devlin (went Brant hunting with him this past season), and am looking forward to research this year and also building a foam or wood layout boat as a prelude to building the 16' Scaup.
 
John , welcome I think you will find this site much nicer than the others, these are not a bunch of guys sitting around pounding on their chests saying "look at me".

Welcome, I hunt with a outlaw pro 18 made back in the day in your neck of the woods. I had it for 18 years got it new. Love it as much as the day I order it out of a field and stream magazine.
Hope your enjoying this site. I'm 58 years old live in upstate NY. I hunt the Hudson River and the Great lakes some times. Calling ducks is a art. You must of master it. Good luck and hope everyday is like opening day in your life.
