I'm going to use MDO for the floor

First it was a hard choice but right now with the economy in the tank MDO (Medium density overlay) is the most cost effective of the 3 real choices I had (Marine plywood, MDO or alum). Now would I be better off using paint, and if so is there one that is better than others for this application? Or is there something else you guys use to protect wood from water damage? I know once it's in place and attached I wont be able to apply anything to the seams or the bottom ever again. Once again Thanks for your help!! I'll be sure to post a few pic's of my progress!

I can get used aluminum highway road signs at a scrap dealer and they make a great floor in an aluminum boat pretty cheap.Bet you have a dealer where you can get some too a lot cheaper than a good grade of plywood . My sawsall cuts it easily and for rounding edges or complicated cuts my sabre saw with a metal cutting blade works slowly but fine. Attach the flooring in some way that it will be able to flex some and then put down some indoor/outdoor carpet on it. Mine lasted 3 years between carpet applications. Carpet is better if you are walking on the deck with slippery muddy boots and it's much easier on your canine companions too. It is great for knocking down any metallic shine when you are hiding the boat or gunning from the boat.

Sometimes the cheapest way is the best way. (Sometimes not)
