Hello everyone, Ive been reading alot of posts regarding the wood for building a duckboat. I know better than to go the cheap route(nothing cheap about a boat!). I also read about building boats with foam. My question is, if you use a heavier cloth could you build a boat out of foam? Something like Devlin's Broadbill. Thanks for your thoughts.

I know there are a bunch of plans out there for foam layouts and some of the guys have beefed them up enough to run small motors on em. I suppose you could pull off actual plans with foam with the right customizing. Personally I wouldnt mind using a foam layout in a protected marsh but anything bigger than that and I am buying or building a boat out of wood or fiberglass.

Jeff, it all depends on the type of foam you are looking at. the high end boat foams or the pink crap from the box store?

both have been and can be done, but for a smaller boat the question would be why?
