OMG!!!! I have been waiting for this for 15 years. This year for the first time the Dept of Environment is having a lottery for elk. These guys were first brought up here in the 50's and have never been on the menu before. We've seen some 7x7's 8x8's and lots of huge 6x6's over the years. If there ever will be a chance for someone to get close to a whopper with a bow, this fall will be it. I think 34 tags are being drawn for, and the cost is ... are you sitting down?....

$10 !!!!!!!!!!! I nearly peed. I put in and so did Jane. Cross your fingers for us!

10 BUCKS!!!! I wish they'd sell 'm for that here. I hope you get a tag, after you've eaten elk, you'll turn your nose up at deer meat. I've gotten two cows so far, still looking to get a bull, maybe this year. My wife may shoot me though, the freezer is still packed with this winter's cow.
 
I hear ya Matt. I put Jane in for a bull or a cow, and either way it'll be better than a chewy old moose.

I hope they do this next year too.

Good luck Mike. Me and my lifelong buddy Tim (Tizmo) from Iowa were talking yesterday about our bucket lists...not many elk in Iowa, maybe an antler farm or two, and no elk in Florida...I've been looking for a bow. I can tell you, if we do it, it'll be more than 10 bucks.

Again good luck on the lottery.
