Had a cool encounter this AM. Decided I could not take sitting around anymore and had the boy take me out for a scout. We came off a local pond and saw a guy at the edge of the village with a young Redtail hawk that he was putting the traces on and getting ready to hunt.
Behind them walked an old Rat terrier who belongs to a neighbor. In front of him a lady walking her Pekinese. Being an old falconer, I smelled trouble.
Stopped to talk to him and found out he is Lee Slikkers apprentice. I offered to take him and introduce him to a farmer I know where I deer hunt. Got him all set and ready to hunt in a place with a few less tempting targets.
Some times just helping a fellow sportsman out makes your day as much as a full game bag.
Off to try and do wheelies in my chair !!!
