Guys,
I hope you all are well. It's a busy time of the year for me as a pastor, but there is always time to mess around in boats.
I am having my 1978 13' Whaler refurbished. When that happens in March, I'd like to repower the boat from the 40 hp two stroke to a different engine. This is primarily for fishing, not hunting.
I am looking for two different options:
1) a used 25 hp Yamaha two stroke, tiller, 20" shaft, electric start in very good condition
Or:
2) a used Tohatsu or Yamaha 20 hp four stroke, tiller, 20" shaft, with both electric start and power tilt.
I prefer #2 but they are hard to find with power tilt. I figure I can pull the Yammie two burner up by hand but not the four stroke. The Yammie 25 four strokes weigh almost as much as my 40 hp Johnson so I prefer not to go with a 25 four stroke.
I am looking to free up more room by removing the console and lighten the back end by going to a smaller motor.
The latter choice is very hard to find with power tilt. The former not quite so. Nevertheless, I would appreciate your eyes.
I am willing to travel from the mid-atlantic to Alabama to find a good used motor that fits these categories.
And I thought you might not mind keeping an eye out for me.
