BEHR PAINT colors for Ringnecks

Still no time for a full Tutorial. I am up to my elbones in rehabbing dozens of LL Bean birds right now - but took a time out to put together these color charts for Ringnecks this morning. These are intended for the 8-oz sample jars - in Behr flat latex house paints.

As always, I try to use colors that I also use on other species - to try to keep the paint locker manageable..... Even the Divine Wine (PPU 1-02) on the Drake's head can be used on a Black Duck speculum or a Wood Duck cheek.

The bills are painted with the same flat latex - but top-coated with satin varnish to add protection and a bit of lustre.

This is the recent quintet of Model 72 Herter's I painted as Ringers.

Hope this helps,

do your decoy spreads all look like this? Good gravy. Mine are all so ugly! Those look awesome!

Nice work! I do believe those same hen colors would work well for hen redheads.

Good morning, Paul~

Thanks for the kind words!

And, yes, almost all of my rigs have been refurbished in recent years. (These Ringers were for a NC gunner.) All of my gunning boats are ready-to-hunt and now my shop is a well-oiled machine. Even the trails on the farm are freshly-mowed and we've been shooting from a new blind on Home Pond in recent weeks. Of course, my Element just got a new roof rack. HOWEVER.....our 1825 farmhouse is in desperate need of my attentions and Susan deserves a kitchen at least as nice as my shop. 2018 will be The Year of the House.

All the best,

SJS
