Dogs and broadbill boats?

Since, AA Broadbills and like seem to be very much talked about of late, I have a statement/question? I hunt w/ my Chessie in mine, but BB's is usually slid up on shore or island then the dog sits on land or bow till needed for retrieve. Where do you do put dog when anchored out in body of water? I was thinking of making a big spray dodger like Bill B. showed in other post with "y" bar frame. That way there may be more room behind me? Any thoughts?
