    Tuckerton Show

Was a treat listening to Steve share his story of "Red Leg" first hand today. Wish I could have spent more time at all the show had to offer. Steve, if you send me your email, I will send a picture of you giving your boat history to the judges. Couldn't master the technology to post here...

Anchor vs Pulpit or steel vs wood

[image] Just noticed my anchor flukes are rubbing the underside of the wood pulpit on my Garvey. Anyone ever deal with this issue before? Not sure if I should just recoat with paint annually or cover with something sacrificial... A small piece or teak or rubber or fire hose?[inline]

    Factory Decoy

Any help with confirming this old blue wing teal is appreciated. Was a recent gift from the wife of a hunting buddy that passed away. Has a sticker on the bottom (no lead or rigging hardware) that says "1875 Dodge Decoy Factory." Any books I can get that would have its history??

    Interior aft hull options

Team, I pulled out a rotted piece of plywood that held the battery box in the bilge of my garvey. I will be replacing that plywood with a piece of starboard. Under that failed piece of plywood, which was only epoxied to the mahogany keel, the original plywood hull was covered with a thin coat...

    TriTronics Pro200

Team, I purchased a used TriTronics Pro200 about a year ago and was just going to introduce it. The unit did not work so I contacted Tri Tronics tech support... "Garmin." They replied quickly with the instructions to "recode" the unit. That effort failed and I now have a unit that they...

Two that survived Sandy along the Jersey coast. A friend captured these for me during a snowy day last week. Weather vanes have always intrigued me, and these are classics.

Garveys of NJ... Now with pics

A huge fan of the Ocean County Decoy & Gunning Show and the Tuckerton Seaport & Baymen's Museum, I thought I would share some iPhone pictures of garveys from the Seaport side last weekend. These graceful hulls are a huge part of our heritage that also need to be preserved. Some are in sad...

    4200 Removal

I have 3 large cracked deck hatches to replace as well as a cleanup of two rear seat/hatches in my garvey. All were secured and sealed with 4200. I tried acetone to cleanup one of the seat/hatch bases last night and am not sure it worked at all. Without something strong, I imagine I'll be all...

    PLASTIC WOOD OPTIONS

Team, I'm replacing two rotted plywood hatch covers/seats in the rear of a garvey. Someone recently said to check out "deck board" or "star board." Figured I'd better check with this experienced crowd before I do anything. Thanks for any assistance on where to find this or how to cut this...

    DUAL SNEAKBOX TRAILER PLANS

Looking for some concepts and/or plans to give to a welder to fabricate an over/under dual 12' sneakbox trailer rig. I have written a number of trailer companies, but had no luck with them. I have seen a few on the road, so I know they are out there. Can anyone point me in the right direction...
