Hi all,

I wanted to introduce myself to the forum here. I’ve been on other waterfowl forums for quite awhile, but never needed a duck boat to hunt from (I have on occasion used my fishing boat to get to a hole) so never ventured over here.

I recently moved to Michigan and decided it’s time for a dedicated duck boat, so I thought I’d join up to learn from all of you who regularly hunt from boats.

I’m looking forward to getting to know folks on here.

Thank you for joining our community. I think your quest for a duck boat could get interesting given the gamut of waters in Michigan. You might need several boats!

Haha yes I’d love to have one for divers on the big water and another for the marshes, but unfortunately the finances only have room for one at the current time. I’m hoping for one that will do both decently well.

Welcome from SC. I'm originally from MI, born in Detroit, grew up downriver but had family in Milford, Grand Blanc, Petosky, Conway, Indian River....I was a lucky city kid who spent more time in the woods and on the water than most up that way.

While I now live in the Raleigh area and don't frequent duckboats as much as in previous years, I used to work just south of where you live in LInden, MI and duck hunted in Michigan for 26 years. Tell me a bit what you are interested in, what kind of budget you have (including whether you are married or not; this affects the budget!!), and I can give you some pointers about getting started, especially what kind of boat to consider going forward,

Welcome Lance. Everyone needs multiple boats. Whatever you have, the correct number is always at least one more. Protect your wallet and bank account--but you can't change that basic and fundamental law of the universe.
