Doing a lil hunting for my freezer tonight. Sweating like a hog lol.

Took the ole 390 and some 398 grain number 4 buck tss handloads tonight, instead of the rifle.

Had them on camera the last three nights right before dark. Hopefully they show up again tonight.

Air temp is 86 with a light but steady northwest wind. Corn is 20 yards out, so I have the cylinder choke in tonight.

Got the thermalcell running and a 6 pack of water. I'm all set, here piggy, piggy, piggy 😂 😂 😂.

Not much better than a young wild hog brined whole leg on the smoker. Hope you get em!
I'm hoping to get a couple of them.

Need some pork bellys to make bacon, need some pork roast to make venison burger with this winter. Need some back strap to put in the smoker.

Need one about 35 to 45 pounds to put in the Cajun microwave.

I'm wanting sows, we use the bore's for coyote/bobcat bait.

Good luck! Last one I shot was in lower Alabama. Deer hunting with a buddy and a big sow ran into the field with 5 piglets. Shot the sow, and the piglets just ran around her. Managed to get 3 of them before the last 2 wisened up. Those little ones are the best!

I'm already back in town, headed home, stuck behind he train 😂 😂 😂

Had a coon with the onset of rabies come out before dark. But my feeder lights wouldn't come on(dead batteries).

So I waited for absolute last light then walked over to them to double check them. Coon moved off a few feet.

So I gave him a load of tss buckshot and ended his misery.

Always next time 😂 😂 😂

Does wild pig have good fat in the belly for bacon?
Depends on what they have been eating.

I feed year round. (7) Chestnut trees, plus I make my own blend of feed that has corn, roasted soy bean (crushed) roasted walnuts and roasted pecans. Plus I keep 3 food plots planted year round. I also provide water year round with minerals mixed in.

Do all that for the deer, but the hogs take advantage of it as well. I go through about 400 lbs of feed a month.

During heavy acorn crop years. They have a HEAVY fat layer. Makes it hard to get blood trails when bow hunting.

On my place it's not unusual to kill a 160 plus pound sow. I kill on average 2 bore hogs a year that get into the 250lb range.

Bummer.
But good thing you took out the raccoon.
I hated using a 5 dollar shell but he needed killing. Hate to see a animal waste away like that.

That reminds me I need to kill a few this winter for the freezer. Coon/venison sausage and turnips cooked in a black iron pot served over rice with corn as a side dish. Is OMG yummy comfort food from my youth.
